![]() ![]() She is a complicated woman who is by turns vulnerable, tough, and combative. In just over 100 pages, Rocklyn manages to create a surprisingly complex small-scale society, well-developed characters, and a rich, engrossing story. I don’t want to say much about the story since it is quite short, and I think doing so would veer dangerously toward spoiler territory, so we’ll just focus on the writing. Between this and Mira Grant’s Into the Drowning Deep, I’m in my happy place. I’ve been on a tales-by-sea kick lately, and from the moment I picked Flowers for the Sea up, I was hooked. But I wanted to make sure to get this one done as soon as possible because I LOVED IT SO MUCH. And I still have a massive pile of stuff awaiting review. Who the hell am I?
